Gendje rugs are recognized for their pale colors -- white, yellow, light red and blue. The designs are widely varied; a popular one includes full-field diagonal rows of small ornamental elements like boteh or stylized flowers.


 

Caucasian area rugs:

Most Caucasian rugs in existence today date from the second half of the 19th century. These rugs tend toward the abstract and geometric. Knotting is symmetrical with a medium density of knots. Among the best known production areas and most popular types are the following, Baku, Daghestan, Gendje, Karabagh, Kazak, Shirvan, and Talish.
